Honey is a great way to add extra flavor to any dish. Adding honey to your onion really brings out their sweetness and adds extra depth! This recipe was inspired by foodnouveau.com.

Ingredients 🍯

2 tablespoons of olive oil

1 white onion, finely chopped

1 tablespoon of honey

2 cloves of garlic, finely diced

500 g of Quality Label beef minced meat

2 teaspoons of mixed herbs

1 beef stock cube

Salt and black pepper to taste

400 g can of diced tomatoes

Optional extra for a deeper tasting sauce:

2 tablespoons Worcestershire or balsamic vinegar

2 teaspoons additional brown sugar or honey

2 tablespoons of tomato paste

Tip: add grated mushrooms, carrots or zucchini

Method

  1. In a saucepan, add oil, onion, honey and garlic and sauté.

  2. Add ground beef, beef bouillon cube and mixed herbs.

  3. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.

  4. Continue to cook until onions are golden and meat is golden (add vegetables if using).

  5. When the ground meat is browned, pour over the dead tomatoes and simmer for 5-10 minutes until the tomatoes become increasingly colored and the extra water evaporates a bit (add Worcestershire or balsamic vinegar, honey, and tomato paste - be sure to simmer for an additional 5 minutes to really deepen the flavor if you use these extras).
